Narrator: For many years, the nature of our world has been in flux. Humans have worked and earned the right to call themselves the dominate race on Earth. But, deep in the shadows, there is a secret race of sentient beings who wish to upset this balance in their favor. These are the Anthrokhans, human-like animals who wish to overthrow humanity and claim the earth for themselves. To maintain this balance, a race of animal gods that oppose the Anthrokhans have chosen some of the strongest animals in nature, ones with pure and loving hearts, to fight off their own kind and protect humanity. Now, it is time once again for a new warrior to be called upon to fight back against the Anthrokhans and maintain the balance of nature.

*Evergreen Cove, Washington. A sleepy little seaside town full of kind and humble people. Today is a day not unlike any other. Or at least that's the way it started out. Our main focus, David Yeager, a tall boy with slick, spiky black hair and a goatee was walking the wharf, watching the boats sail in and out of the harbor. Waiting at a bench, David's friend, Matt Nelson was typing away his laptop. He wore a green and white striped sweater with blue jeans and green chucks. His hair was blonde and limp and his brown eyes were hidden behind his glasses. The light from his laptop reflected in them*

David: Hey Matt! Sup, green jeans?

Matt: Oh, hey David, I'm just pwning some noobs and whackin' some trolls, if you know what I mean.

David: Yeah…kinda. Anyway, what else are you doin'?

Matt: I've also been working on a new A.I program. You know, for my robot projects.

David: Yeah, okay. I'm still working on that motorcycle I found at the dump, it should only take me a few days…hopefully. Say, think you can look up anything on the field trip we're on tomorrow?

Matt: Already have. We're heading to the museum for some exhibit on ancient Asian artifacts.

David: Like what?

Matt: The usual sort of stuff, pottery, old clothes, paintings, that sort of stuff. But they seem to pertain to old legends on human-like animals.

David: Huh? You mean like werewolves or something?

Matt: Not really, these things are like holy beings. They're like animal gods or something.

David: Like in Egyptian mythology?

Matt: Kinda, yeah. *looks at a website about anthropomorphic gods on his laptop* It says here they were called many things in the past. One of the most common names for them were Anthrokhans.

David: Anthro…like anthropomorphic.

Matt: Yes. They were called that because of the human-esque features they had.

David: Cool. So…would that make things like centaurs, minotaurs, and gorgons considered Anthrokhans?

Matt: That's been debated for a long time. Most believe so, but there's no clear evidence one way or another.

David: How about we find out the rest tomorrow? I don't wanna be spoiled.

Matt: Yeah, alright. *closes up his laptop*

*Later that evening, somewhere, deep underground in China, there was a large ancient city, made up of stone pagodas, huts and an enormous oriental palace in the center. The artificial sky above the city glowed dark red as if it were molten magma. There, in one of the palace tower windows was a large and somewhat burly creature. The general shape of the being was all that could be made out. Just then, a shadowed feminine figure walked into the room, bowing before the mysterious creature*

???: You summoned me, my lord?

??? 2: Yes… Can you feel it? That sort of electricity in the air…

???: *pause* I'm sorry, my lord, but I feel nothing.

??? 2: Well, I do. Something big is going to happen…something that could change everything for us forever.

???: What?

??? 2: I don't know what exactly, but its near. I want you to be ready for when it comes.

???: As you command. *walks backwards out of the room*

??? 2: *to himself* I'm sure you can feel it too, brother. Whatever you have planned…I will stop it. You can count on it.

*The next morning at Evergreen Cove, David's alarm went off as it started to play the new morning radio show for the local station*

Radio: Hello out there, Evergreen Cove! I'm Mr. Skaoovie and I'm here to welcome you to the first ever broadcast of Rude Awakening, Ska music to wake you up. Let's start things off with a little something from The Specials for all you out there in the working class. Its called Rat Race, enjoy.

*Rat Race by The Specials began to play on the radio, waking David up*

David: Okay, field trip day…I need coffee.

*Half an hour later, David was onboard the school bus bound for the museum, with a thermos of coffee in his hand*

Matt: *sits down next to David* Hey man, you ready for this?

David: Just as long as I have my fix of caffeine for the day.

Matt: Really? It seems like I'm the only one who starts his day off with a sugar rush.

David: Any luck on your project?

Matt: Oh yeah, I'm making some incredible strides. What about you, man, how are you doing the, well you know, relationship department?

David: Meh, I do get some fan girls…but they're just too hyper and creepy for my taste. You know, like the ones in anime that are so obsessed with guys.

Matt: Dude, I would kill to be in your position right now.

David: I think its the goatee…or the hair style. Drives them wild, I guess.

Matt: Whatever it is, it's working. But about the girls that aren't like that, do you have your eye on anyone in particular?

David: *quietly* She's sitting right across from us, dude.

*Across from Matt and David was Megan Wright, one of the most popular girls in the entire school. She had long raven black hair with deep blue eyes. She wore a magenta tee with a glittery blue heart in the center and a denim skirt with a pair of black flat ballet style shoes. She sat there with her friends, laughing and talking about whatever subject David and Matt couldn't hear*

David: I like Megan, but…I just hope she isn't like the others. I just hope she's…normal around guys.

Matt: I heard about her, she sounds cool. I heard she just got out of a bad relationship.

David: How bad?

Matt: They guy she was with a real jealous type. I've heard that he'd punch out nearly any guy that would talk to her.

David: *eyes widen* Wow… What a mook.

Matt: That's why she broke up with him.

David: Then…maybe I should wait a little longer before asking her out.

Matt: Just don't wait too long.

*Just then, the bus came to a slow stop in front of the museum. The door then opened as the teacher, Mrs. Moore stood up to address the class. She was tall, had dark brown hair, glasses, and wore a beige colored jacket and skirt*

Mrs. Moore: Alright, everybody off and move out in a single file. Once outside, pair up with someone so no one gets lost.

*A few minutes later, the students were paired up with their partners as they explored the Asian wing of the museum, looking at various pieces of art, weapons, armor, and other ancient artifacts*

Matt: This place is pretty awesome, isn't it?

David: Yeah, pretty cool. *pause* So, uh…where's this Anthrokhan stuff?

Matt: It's just over here. *points over at a large painting in front of a giant vase*

*David and Matt walked over to a large painting and saw that it depicted a group of human-like animals dressed in armor, fighting each other out on a field near some Asian pagodas*

David: Those animals…they're at war with each other.

Matt: Yeah, it's said that some of the Anthrokhans wanted to take over the world, but some wanted to maintain the balance of nature.

David: *raises an eyebrow* Seriously, is there anything you don't know?

Matt: Well I'm still trying to program my uncle's VCR. Still flashes twelve.

David: *rolls his eyes* Hmm… So, the good Anthrokhans went to war with the bad ones… Who won?

Matt: Well, no one knows. According to what I've heard, the war never ended, it just went on for thousands of years.

David: Damn…

Matt: So, the war would still be going on today… Of course, it is just ancient Chinese folklore.

David: Right. *looks around* Hey, check that out over there. *points*

*Matt saw that David was pointing to a small black urn that sat atop a stone pedestal that was surrounded by a velvet rope*

Matt: Well come on, let's check it out. *walks over to the urn*

David: *follows Matt* Is there a human organ inside or something, like a heart or liver or something?

Matt: Hmm… *reads the plaque underneath the urn* Says here that it's the remains of some god-like being called Anima.

David: Really? What kind of animal was he?

Matt: It doesn't say, so I don't think anyone knows.

David: Weird.

Matt: What do you think is really inside?

David: No idea, and I don't want to find out.

Matt: Well, I do. *sneaks over the velvet rope*

David: *eyes widen* Dude, what are you doing? You're gonna set off an alarm and get us into trouble!

Matt: I just want to get a closer look.

David: That's not a good idea. Now, get back here!

*Just then, Matt got his foot caught by the rope and stumbled at bit, grabbing the urn's pedestal to catch himself. The display shook a bit and the lid to the urn fell off*

David: Matt!!

*Suddenly, the inside of the urn began to glow a bright blue and fired a ball of light into the air*

David: *eyes widen* Whoa…

Matt: That was unexpected.

David: What is it?

Matt: I have no idea. I've never heard of anything like this.

David: Better put the lid back on, before something bad happens. *picks up the lid and places it back on the urn*

Matt: I hope whatever that thing was, it won't cause any problems.

David: You're not the only one. Now, let's catch up with the others before security finds out.

*Meanwhile, inside the throne room of the underground palace, a variety of humanoid animals in exotic outfits were gathered for their leader's announcement. Various conversations and whispers were heard everywhere. Just then, their leader approached the throne. He appeared human, but was dressed in heavy loads of armor that were shaped like various kinds of animals, along with a long sash tied around his waist*

Leader: My people, we have found it. The remains of Anima has been found.

*Muttering amongst the crowd then became louder and more rambunctious*

Leader: I'm sure I don't need to remind you what those remains could do for us.

*Just then, the female figure from earlier stepped out of the shadows behind the leader, revealing herself to be an anthropomorphic white fox wearing purple colored Japanese attire with a red sash tied around her waist, along with having black hair with two small pony tails draped over her shoulders, and a fan made out of sharp metallic blades which she held in her hand*

Leader: Seikyo Kitsune, I want you to go retrieve those remains for us and take a vassal with you.

Seikyo Kitsune: Hmm… How appropriate that you charge me with the task, my lord.

Leader: You are one of my most trusted soldiers, I can't see anyone else doing this. Scout around first, then contact me if you need any further assistance.

Seikyo Kitsune: I shall do my best, sire. *bows*

*Back at the museum, the school's field trip was over as everyone was going back into the bus for home. David and Matt were the last to leave the building*

Matt: Should we tell someone what happened?

David: I don't know if they'd believe us.

Matt: Maybe, but I'm going to look into this. Maybe there's something on the net.

David: Well, good luck with that, Matt. But if you ask me, that flame almost seemed…magical.

Matt: I don't know that much, but then again, I don't know any other way of explaining it.

*Just then, a dog's barking could be heard from a distance. Across the street, a young woman was seen having trouble controlling her Boston terrier*

Woman: Come on, Jiji! Calm down, please!

*The dog kept tugging on the leash until the woman let go and the dog ran out into traffic*

David: *sees the loose dog* Oh my god! *runs across the street*

*Suddenly, a small truck came barreling down the street towards the dog. Luckily, David came running in, scooped up the dog in his arms, and ran to the other side of the street, barely avoiding the truck*

Woman: Oh my god, thank you.

David: *sets down the dog* No problem, ma'am. She's all right.

Woman: I was so scared. I have no idea what happened. But it's good to know that there are still people like you around.

David: Thank you. *kneels down and pets the dog* Be a good girl now.

*The woman then took the leash and walked off with her dog*

Matt: *runs over* Dude! I don't know if that was awesome or just crazy.

David: I'd say both. Anyway, let's get back on the bus.

Matt: Alright. *shakes is head in disbelief* Last time I was that reckless, I ended up in stitches.

*Later that night, David was sitting on the couch at home, watching George Lopez on TV, while his mom was in the kitchen. Even though he was enjoying himself at the moment, the thought of what happened earlier in the museum still haunted his mind*

Mrs. Yeager: *in the other room* David! Dinner will be ready shortly.

David: Thanks, mom!

Mrs. Yeager: *walks into the living room* Would you mind setting the table?

David: Sure. *gets up and walks into the kitchen*

*A few minute later, the two of them were sitting at the table eating and talking to one another*

Mrs. Yeager: So, did you enjoy the field trip today?

David: Uh, yeah, yeah, it was…great. We saw all kinds of stuff, including some artifacts from Asia.

Mrs. Yeager: I heard about that exhibit, did you see anything interesting there?

David: Just some paintings, armor…pottery. Matt almost broke one. Oh, and I saved a dog from being run over.

Mrs. Yeager: Really?! Sounds like you've had an eventful day.

David: Yeah, you can say that. I'd just call it weird.

Mrs. Yeager: Weird how? David, did something else happen?

David: N-N-No, no. Nothing.

Mrs. Yeager: David, don't lie to me. You know I can tell when you're not telling me everything. What is it, you can tell me anything.

David: I'll tell ya…after I get some air. *gets up and walks outside*

Mrs. Yeager: David! *sighs* That boy… Sometimes, I really worry about him.

*Outside, David lay down on a hammock tied to two trees in the backyard and looked up at the stars, wondering about the strange blue flame from the urn. Suddenly, a bright blue light began to flash in the night sky*

David: Huh? What the--

*The blue blinking light seemed to get bigger and brighter as it began to come closer to David*

David: *eyes widen* Whoa… Whoa, WHOA!!!! *jumps out of the hammock and begins to run to the house*

*The light caught up with David and vanished along with him, leaving the backyard empty*

*Later, the blue light appeared somewhere in the Himalayas, dumping David outside of a large cave. The winds were cold and the ground was covered with a fresh blanket of snow*

David: *looks around* Huh? W-W-W-Where am I? *shivers*

???: Just outside my sanctuary.

David: *frantically looks around* Who said that?!

???: *coming from the cave* I did. Come inside, you'll catch your death out there.

*David had no choice but to enter the large cave and get away from the cold tundra outside. Surprisingly, it was very warm inside, as well as moist. As David walked further and further in, he could see small flowers blooming within the stone walls and floor. Up ahead, he could see a light coming in from the ceiling*

???: Do you like my garden? I've worked on it for longer then you'd believe.

David: I am impressed…but I still don't know who you are.

*An enormous figure then appeared before David. He was shocked to see that it was a giant preying mantis with a white shell and bright blue eyes*

Mantis: I am Kamakikami…the god mantis.

David: Holy crap!! *falls over backwards* WHOA!!!

Kamakikami: Please do not be afraid. I only wish to talk.

David: *raises an eyebrow* Huh?

Kamakikami: Allow me to explain…I called you here because I need you to help to save our world from a great evil.

David: E-Evil?

Kamakikami: That is right, an evil that threatens the balance of nature.

David: *to himself* Balance of nature… *pause* The Anthrokhans?

Kamakikami: Yes. The remains of Anima have been disturbed, and the Anthrokhans wish to seek them out in order to unlock their powers.

David: Anima? *eyes widen* So that's what the blue flames in the urn were!! The legend's true!!

Kamakikami: Yes, they are true, but most of the story has been lost to you humans.

David: So, why don't you do something about them? You are a god, aren't you? Or is this all a trick?

Kamakikami: I am afraid that I am not powerful enough to stop them. Their numbers are too great.

*Upon closer inspection, David could see that Kamakikami's limbs looked incredibly weak and that his breathing looked like a rather difficult task to do. He quickly realized that the god was sick*

David: By the looks or your body, that's not all that's stopping you… You look sick.

Kamakikami: I'm afraid…I don't have much longer… I'm dying.

David: *shakes his head* But why me? I didn't open the jar, that was Matt. All I did was put the lid back on.

Kamakikami: The spirit of Anima saw you save that dog from being killed and has deemed you a compassionate soul.

David: But that was just one dog, how am I able to save the entire human race?

Kamakikami: I will grant you my power, which you will use to defend the balance of nature.

David: Wait a minute… How do I know I can trust you?

Kamakikami: You must…for the good of all living things. Take this.

*Kamakikami then waves his pincer and a mantis head shaped buckle appeared on David's belt*

David: *looks at the buckle* Whoa! What's this thing?

Kamakikami: When faced with danger while wearing that talisman, simply call out Henshin and you'll become the champion of nature. Use the power I've given you to protect the balance from those who threaten it.

David: I…I don't know if I can. Do you really believe in me that much?

Kamakikami: I have faith in you… I know you will save the world from the evil that threatens it. Be alert, they'll strike at anytime.

David: *sighs* This is all going by so fast. *pause* I can't promise you anything, but…I'll try my best…

Kamakikami: I know you will… Now go...

*With those last words, Kamakikami took his last breath. He then spread out his pincers, closed his eyes, and his body suddenly began to dissolve into thousands upon thousands of small white butterflies. The butterflies soon all flew up towards the light and out the cave, leaving David all alone*

David: *a tear slides down his cheek* Wow…

*The light coming from outside the cave began to glow brighter and more intense, blinding David for a moment. When the light faded, David found himself back in his backyard, as if nothing ever happened*

David: That couldn't have been real. *looks at his belt buckle* But it was… *pause* I need to get some sleep… I'll deal with this in the morning. *walks into his house*

*Meanwhile, Seikyo Kitsune looked at the museum from the top of a building that was across the street*

Seikyo Kitsune: It doesn't look like It'll take too much to retrieve the remains. I'll come back tomorrow with one of the weaker ones. No sense in me having to carry them.

*With that, she jumped off the building and ran off into the night to get ready for the impending attack*
