Digimon: Heroes Episode 22

*The Heroes and their Digimon stared up at the demonic Digimon that was once Angelomon and gasped in terror. Chaosdramon on the other hand, smiled in delight*

Mike: *eyes widen* Is that…Angelomon?

Chris: *eyes widen* N-Not anymore…

Chaosdramon: *smirks* The Death Reaper… Diabolosmon…What a pleasure it is to be in your presence…

Taomon: This isn't… It can't be… He's only a myth…

Robert: Who?

Taomon: Diabolosmon… The story goes that anywhere he went…there was nothing left, except an empty black sky…

Antylamon: *eyes widen* I had nightmares about him back in the Digital World…but I never thought he'd actually be real…let alone be Angelomon…

Chaosdramon: Then allow me to put him out of your misery!! With him dead, I'll take his place as the most feared Digimon in the Digital World!! Destroyed Hook!! *shoots an organic missile from his right hand into Diabolosmon's chest* This hook of mine at this very minute, is injecting you with a special virus which will cause your body to melt!!

Diabolosmon: *just stares at the hook, then yanks it out of his chest* RAAAHHH!!! Sorrow Scream!! *emits a high, chilling scream emanates from him mouth, hurting all the Digimon*

Chaosdramon: *eyes widen* By the Ruler…

Diabolosmon: Darkness Slash!! *slashes at Chaosdramon*

Chaosdramon: *is hit by the attack* AAAGGGHHH!!! *disintegrates into a stream of data*

Jermaine: *pause* Well, at least Chaosdramon's gone…

Commandramon: Um, sir, I don't think anyone wants to celebrate right now…

Robert: *looks at Chris* Mike was right, Chris… Your crest…it's evil.

Taomon: *looks at the symbol on Chris's crest* It is the Crest of Sorrow…

Chris: *looks down at the crest* Then…that makes me a monster…

*Diabolosmon then destroyed another building as hundreds of people were seen running away, screaming in terror, including a man wearing a large sign that read, "The End is Upon Us!"*

Man with Sign: IT'S THE END, IT'S THE RAPTURE!!!! THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US!!!! REPENT!!! REPENT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!

Chris: Guys… H-He was in my dream and…and… *breaks down into tears*

Robert: Come on, Chris, we gotta run!!

Chris: But…it's my fault.

Mike: *pushing Chris* Run, you idiot!!

Joey: Wait a minute, can't we take him? *points at Diabolasmon*

Taomon: I don't think it would be worth it… He's too strong for us to attack him…

Gatomon: Wait, no! We can't just leave him like this!!

BlackAgumon: Even if we try to stop him, Gatomon, he could annihilate us!

Rixu: So do what your fearless leader said and run!!

*The Heroes' Digimon, except for Antylamon, de-digivolved to their Rookie forms and ran away from the scene of destruction with their partners. But Diabolosmon spotted them running away and began chasing after them through the streets*

Diabolosmon: Evil Wind!! *emits hurricane winds from his throat that blows the Heroes and their Digimon farther away from him*

Renamon: He's trying to intimidate us! We shouldn't oblige his whims, keep going!

*Just then, the Heroes spotted the Cathedral of St. John the Divine just ahead of them and began heading towards it*

Robert: The church! Everyone into the cathedral!!

Jermaine: I'm not sure if that will keep us safe!

*The Heroes and their Digimon soon made their way to the cathedral. As soon as they were approaching the steps, they saw Diabolosmon fly away in the opposite direction*

Jermaine: *eyes widen* Well…I stand corrected…

Renamon: Where's he going?

Antylamon: I have no idea.

Eva: Do you think the cathedral is his weakness?

Veemon: You mean like he can't touch holy ground…like Myotismon?

Renamon: It looks to be true. He hasn't even thrown any attacks onto the cathedral to stop us

Chris: But he's gonna destroy the city!!

Robert: We need to strategize a plan to pin him down and de-digivolve him. But first, let's get inside, where it's safe.

Antylamon: I'm afraid I can't fit inside. I'll wait out here, I'll be fine.

Joey: You sure?

Antylamon: Like you said, we're on holy ground. He shouldn't be able to get us from this spot if he comes back.

Chris: But--

Kevin: Okay, come on, let's get inside!

*The Heroes and their Digimon, except for Antylamon, opened the doors and entered the cathedral*

Veemon: *runs through the benches* SANCTUARY, SANCTUARY, SANCTUARY!!!!

Everyone: *in unison* SHUT UP!!!

Veemon: What? Isn't that what you do when you run into a church to hide?

Rixu: Not while acting like a complete idiot…

*Just then, Father Maxwell was seen coming out from his office and soon seeing the Heroes and their Digimon*

Father Maxwell: My goodness, what's going on around here?

Robert: Father Maxwell…

Father Maxwell: Robert, what are you doing here, and what are these creatures doing in my church?

Commandramon: It's Angelomon, sir! He's gone nuts and is attacking the city!

Father Maxwell: What? Why would he do that?

Joey: Look outside if you don't believe us! *pause* On second thought, don't look outside, you could lose your head.

*Just then, the entire cathedral shook as Diabolosmon roared loudly from outside in the city*

Father Maxwell: *eyes widen* Don't tell me that was little Angelomon…

Renamon: I'm afraid it was… Only now…he's Diabolosmon…

Chris: *stuttering* H-He…

Father Maxwell: *eyes widen* Oh…I see. Come into my office and explain everything to me.

*Meanwhile, inside the palace of the Digital World, the Supreme Ruler was watching the slow destruction of New York brought upon by Diabolosmon on his monitor screen*

Supreme Ruler: Oh, Christopher…what a magnificent weapon you have made for me. After all these years, The Death Reaper; Diabolosmon, has finally arrived. With him under my control, I will finally rid myself of the resistance and the Human World, once and for all… Yes…

*Meanwhile, in Father Maxwell's office, Chris was finishing explaining to him what had happened to Angelomon*

Father Maxwell: My goodness, it does seem like things were getting rough out there. Is there anything we can do about this?

Chris: *looks away* There's nothing we can do… I'm a monster…

Father Maxwell: Hmm…You know, Christopher, you're problem reminds me of the story, 'Paradise Lost'.

Chris: *rolls his eyes* Oh, spare me… I don't need this.

BlackAgumon: *raises an eyebrow* What's Paradise Lost?

Father Maxwell: It is the story of the origin of the devil. Once, Lucifer was one of God's most beautiful and loyal angels. But, he soon became jealous of the lord, and vowed war against him in heaven. After which, God cast him out of paradise, to create his own kingdom, in Hell.

Renamon: Hmm… Interesting.

Jermaine: What does that have to do with Angelomon?

Renamon: It could mean that the cause for Angelomon's digivolution was what Chris was feeling earlier. That negative feeling must've changed Angelomon negatively.

Gatomon: *looks angrily at Rixu* That wasn't the only thing that set him off…

Rixu: *sighs* Okay, so I had an argument with him, I didn't know this would happen!

Renamon: It doesn't matter whose fault it is, we have to get Angelomon under control.

Joey: But…we can't just destroy him… He's our friend.

Renamon: Yes, he is… We will try to bring him back if we can, but if it comes to it…he may have to be destroyed.

Robert: *pause* I can't do that to Chris… He lost his dog…I can't let him lose Angelomon.

Renamon: I'm afraid we have no other choice…

Robert: I'm the leader, Renamon, and I say that we don't kill him!

Gatomon: And I'll make sure of it!

Kevin: But what can we do to stop him? He's too powerful for us!

Gatomon: I don't care!! Angelomon's special to me… I'll do anything in my ability to bring him back!

Cyberdramon: It shouldn't be up to you… *pause* It should be Chris' choice.

*All the Heroes and their Digimon turned their attention to Chris, who was sulking in a chair in the corner*

Eva: Chris…it's all up to you…

Chris: *pause* What do you want me to say?

*Just then, an explosion was heard from outside, shaking the cathedral and startling everyone who was inside*

Jermaine: At this point, anything!!

Chris: *looks to Gatomon* Go for it, Gatomon.

Gatomon: I'll do it for you…and for him…

*Joey and Robert approached the church doors and slowly opened them, revealing that the sky had turned dark red with black clouds and lightning striking the ground*

Rixu: Judgment Day…

Robert: *looks at Eva and Gatomon* Be careful, you two.

Jermaine: We're right behind you.

Gatomon: Thank you all…

*Just then, Diabolosmon was seen descending from the sky and hovered just above the ground in front of the Heroes and their Digimon, with an evil glare in his eyes. Father Maxwell, seeing this, silently recited a prayer for the Heroes*

Father Maxwell: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

*Diabolosmon roared ferociously, causing the ground to shake and nearly throwing everyone off balance. The Heroes then pulled out their digivices*

Robert: Get ready…just in case.

Eva: Gatomon…

Gatomon: It'll be alright, Eva.

Eva: Just be careful…

Father Maxwell: *to himself* God have mercy on us all. *closes the church doors*

Diabolosmon: RAAAUUUGGGHHH!!! *begins to charge up an attack*

Robert: Stand your ground!

*Renamon and the other Digimon braced themselves as Diabolosmon launched an energy attack at them*

Robert: Now, Eva!!

Eva: *holds out her digivice* Digivolve, Ultimate!!

Gatomon: *digivolves* Gatomon Digivolve to…Angewomon!!

Eva: Hurry!!

Angewomon: Heaven's Charm!! *blocks Diabolosmon's attack*

Diabolosmon: RRRAAAUUUGGGHHH!!!

Rixu: Come on, Cyberdramon! *leaps onto Cyberdramon's back* This isn't over yet!!

Cyberdramon: It'll be over when I say it's over!! *leaps up and flies into the air*

Rixu: Careful, Cyberdramon! We don't wanna kill him!

Cyberdramon *nods and charges for an attack* Desolation Claw!!

Diabolosmon: *is hit by the attack, but not injured* Black Wind!! *flaps his wings at , creating an evil force that knocks Cyberdramon out of the sky*

Rixu: WHOA!!!!

Robert: RIXU!!!

*The other Heroes and Digimon quickly got out of the way of the falling Digimon as he and Rixu crashed onto the steps of the church*

Rixu: Ugh! *gets up onto his feet* I just had to talk smack about the guy…

Chris: *looks at his crest* Why? Why was I given the Crest of Sorrow?

Renamon: Now's not the time to remorse upon your actions, Chris!

*Diabolosmon looked over to Chris, who noticed him and backed away nervously. Suddenly, a light began to emit from inside Diabolosmon's mouth. Luckily, Angewomon quickly flew over and stood between them*

Angewomon: Angelomon, NO!!!

Diabolasmon: *seizes his attack* Grrr…

Veemon: Hey… He stopped!

Angewomon: *continues to stand in front of Diabolosmon as a tear slides down her cheek* You wouldn't dare attack him, Angelomon. He's your partner, your best friend.

Diabolosmon: Grrr…

Angewomon: Please…just go back to the way you were…

Diabolosmon: *tilts his head* Huh?

Angewomon: Please… Please, Angelomon, come back to me! I…I love you!

*Diabolosmon looked down at Chris with a surprised look on his face. He was standing perfectly still, with a tear sliding down his cheek. Just then, a tear was seen sliding down Diabolosmon's own cheek*

Chris: A-Angelomon?

Diabolosmon: *shakes his head and angrily stares at Chris* RAAAHHH!!!

Robert: Chris!! *pulls out his crest and inserts it into his digivice* MEGA DIGIVOLUTION!!!!

Renamon: *digivolves* Renamon warp digivolve to…Sakuyamon!!

Diabolosmon: *turns to Sakuyamon* Grrr…

Sakuyamon: Hello, big fella. *raises her staff*

Diabolosmon: RAAAUUUGGGHHH!!! *fires an energy beam from his mouth*

Sakuyamon: Spirit Strike!! *uses her fox spirits to block the attack*

Robert: Yes!!

Sakuyamon: Angelomon, I know you're still in there, I don't want to have to hurt you!

Diabolosmon: RAAAUUUGGGHHH!!! *swipes at Sakuyamon with his fists*

Sakuyamon: On the other hand… *dodges the swipes* Hyah!! *uses her staff to hold back another punch *

Jermaine: Man, he's just not giving up…

BlackAgumon: We've got to help her!

Veemon: But what can we do?

Joey: Well, we better do something!! Antylamon, grab Diabolosmon!!

Antylamon: On it! *leaps up and tries to grab a hold of Diablosmon* Ung!! *grabs Diabolasmon, who struggles in her grip*  GOT HIM!!!

Joey: Rob, go on, you're open!!

Antylamon: Yeah! Hit him hard!!

Sakuyamon: Twin Blades of Beauty and of Truth!! *uses her staff to make two pink rings around herself which are then shot Diabolosmon*

Diabolosmon: *is hit by the attack* RAAAUUUGGGHHH!!!

Angewomon: *looks on in fear* Angelomon…

Sakuyamon: Be careful what you're doing, Antylamon! We're trying to weaken him, we don't want to kill him!

Antylamon: *struggles with Diabolasmon* Okay… URGH!!! Just…HURRY UP!!!

*Diabolosmon roared loudly and suddenly swiped at Sakuyamon, knocking both her and Antylamon away from him and out of the air, causing them to come crashing into the ground*

Robert: *runs up to Sakuyamon* You okay, Sakuyamon?

Sakuyamon: *uses her staff as a support* I'm okay…he just knocked the wind out of me.

Diabolosmon: GRRRR!!!! *sets his sights on Robert and Sakuyamon*

Robert: Uh oh!

Mike: Chris, he's gonna kill Robert!!

Chris: *narrows his eyebrows* No, he wont… *runs off to help Robert and Sakuyamon*

Angewomon: *gasps and zooms after Chris* Hold on, I'm coming!

Diabolosmon: Pure Evil Sphere!! *fires a glowing red sphere from his mouth at Robert and Sakuyamon*

Eva: *gasps* Robert, no!!

Chris: *stops in front of Diabolosmon* KNOCK IT OFF!!!

*Diabolosmon's attention was suddenly diverted as the attack was sent flying into a building, away from the Heroes*

Chris: *walks up to Diabolosmon* STOP THIS, ANGELOMON!!!! THIS ISN'T WHO YOU ARE!!!!

*Diabolosmon just floated there in front of Chris, somewhat startled and confused. Just then, Angewomon landed next to Chris and stared up at Diabolosmon*

Chris: The hyperactive, lovable, and dopey Angelomon I know would never let this happen! You need to stop this now before you hurt those you care about. *looks at Angewomon and then back at Diabolosmon*

Angewomon: Please Angelomon… Do it for Chris, do it for your friends… Do it for me.

*Diabolosmon floated down in front of Chris and Angewomon. He looked at them curiously and saw the tears in their eyes*

Chris: *crying* I-I'm sorry I did this to you, Angelomon… Forgive me…

Angewomon: *floats up to Diabolosmon's head* No matter what form you're in…I'll always love you. I just hope…you love me, too. *kisses Diabolasmon's forehead*

Diabolosmon: *eyes fill with tears* I…I…love…you…Gatomon…

*Suddenly, Diabolosmon began to glow with a bright white light. The light then began to shrink into Angewomon arms and faded away to reveal Angelomon, who lay tired and bruised*

Angewomon: It's all right. I've got you. *floats down to the other Heroes and Digimon*

Robert: Angelomon?

Angelomon: *stirs* Ooh… I feel like I got hit by a truck…and then the truck used me as a tennis ball…

Eva: *smiles* Welcome back, little guy.

Angewomon: Oh, Angelomon! *her tears fall upon his face*

Angelomon: Huh? *looks up at Angewomon* Angewomon…you're crying.

Angewomon: I was afraid I would lose you…

Angelomon: *sees Chris and smiles* Chris! Buddy!!

*Chris stood in front of the others as Angelomon flew up to him and landed on top of his head*

Robert: Are you okay, Ang'e? Do you remember anything that happened?

Angelomon: *smiles* Of course I do, Rob. I was there, wasn't I? I'm not mad about it or anythin'. Come on, Chris, cheer up! Things are back to normal now!

*Chris just stood there, with a tears running down his face. He then threw Angelomon off of his head and ran away from the others*

Angelomon: Chris! Where are you going? Chris!!

Robert: Let him go, Ang'e.

Angelomon: *turns to Robert* Wha?

Sakuyamon: Chris needs to be alone right now… He's been through a lot.

*Just then, Sakuyamon and Angewomon de-digivolved back into their Rookie forms as they watched Chris run out of sight*

Eva: So, what now?

Robert: *pause* Go talk to him, Renamon… But not now…just wait for a good time.

Renamon: I'll do what I can for him, Robert…

*Later that night, Chris sat atop the roof of his house roof, crying into his hands. Just then, he turned around to look behind him*

Chris: Go away, Renamon, I know you're there!

Renamon: *steps out of the shadows* I must be losing my touch.

Chris: What part of go away don't you understand?

Renamon: *walks up to Chris and sits next to him* Look, a new moon out tonight… A new start.

Chris: *just looks at Renamon* Hmm…

Renamon: No one is angry or blaming you for anything, Chris. Not even Angelomon.

Chris: *looks away* Humph!

Renamon: We all lose control of ourselves. I've had my share of that during my time back in the Digital World… I know there's not much I can say, but think of this as a fresh start.

Chris: What makes you think things will be okay after this? After what Angelomon became because of me?

*Just then, Angelomon flew up onto the roof and slowly approached Chris*

Angelomon: Chris, are you okay?

Chris: *looks over and sees Angelomon* Yeah… Look I'm sorry for what happened…

Angelomon: You already apologized, buddy! All water under the bridge! *flies up and sits on top of Chris' head*

*Just then, Rixu walked out from the shadows, accompanied by Monodramon and approached Chris*

Rixu: Renamon's right. It isn't your fault… It's mine.

Chris: How would it be your fault? You're not the one who has this crest…

Rixu: But I'm the one who only made you angrier, when I should've helped you instead. *sighs* Look Chris, I know I may be an ass sometimes, but…I shouldn't have said those things about Angelomon.

Chris: I think it's fair to say that our quarreling was the cause for all this…

Rixu: So…what are you gonna do?

Chris: I think…I think I need to go away for a while.

Angelomon: Huh?

Chris: It's just somethin' I need to do.

Renamon: Where will you go?

Chris: *lowers his head* I dunno. I just need some time to reflect, y'know?

Renamon: I see…

Angelomon: But what about me?

Chris: You'll come with me. We both need to get away for a while. But first, we need to tell mom…and the others.

*The next afternoon, at Heroes HQ, Chris was finishing up telling the other Heroes and their Digimon of his plans to leave*

Robert: *eyes widen* You're leaving?!

Chris: Yes.

Gatomon: But what about Angelomon?

Angelomon: Don't worry, I'm gonna tag along with Chris.

Gatomon: Angelomon, don't go! *hugs Angelomon* Please…I can't bare it.

Angelomon: I'll be fine, Gatomon. Although I should stay with Chris in case something happens to him.

Gatomon: *nods* Think of me.

Angelomon: *winks and smiles* Of course. *kisses Gatomon on the lips*

Robert: Did you tell your mom?

Chris: Yeah, she was a little concerned, but she's alright with it. I'll be staying with my grandparents in Alaska. I just…need to be away from all this…for a while.

Robert: Well, Chris. If you really wanna do this, we won't stop you. Just promise you'll come back soon.

Chris: Of course. I'm only going away for a while, so I'll be back soon.

Robert: *holds Chris' shoulder* Once a Hero, always a Hero.

Chris: *nods and smiles a little as he turns to go* Thanks Rob.

*Later, the Heroes and a few of their Digimon were outside as they watched Chris walk to the street corner with Angelomon sitting atop his head*

Mike: Wow, he's serious.

Veemon: Dead serious.

Monodramon: Hope he'll be alright.

Kevin: I can't believe I'm saying this, but…I'm gonna miss him.

BlackAgumon: I think we all will.

*Chris then waved his hand and a taxi cab then rolls up to the street corner. Chris and Angelomon then climbed into the back seat pf the taxi as it began to drive off. The other Heroes and their Digimon just stood watching as the cab kept on driving off into the distance*

Joey: There he goes…

Robert: The boy with the Crest of Sorrow…

Mike: Do you think he'll be alright?

Gatomon: I hope so, Mike… I really do.

???: Hey guys!

*The Heroes and their Digimon quickly turned to see Rixu and Monodramon standing behind them

Rixu: *pause* I'm willing to take up your offer… I'm ready to join your team… Me and Monodramon…if you'll have us.

Robert: *pause* Can you give us a moment?

*Everyone then huddled around, whispering to each other, as Rixu and Monodramon watched with curiosity and anxiety*

Rixu: They're gonna say no…

Monodramon: Don't be so quick to judge, dude.

Rixu: After what just happened with Angelomon, what makes you think they'd accept us?

*Just then, the group broke out of the huddle and looked at Rixu and Monodramon*

Robert: Well, we've made a decision…

Monodramon: Yeah?

Robert: We'll accept you…but you're not Chris' replacement.

Rixu: I had no intentions of replacing anyone on the team.

Robert: Good. *extends his right hand* Because now, you're a part of it.

Rixu: *shakes Robert's hand and smiles* Thanks, fearless leader…

*Meanwhile, in the backseat of the taxi cab, Chris stared out the window with Angelomon on his lap. He then looked at his crest that he held n his hand, and then closed his hand around it, no longer wanting to look at it. Just then, he heard the Supreme Ruler's voice inside his head*

Supreme Ruler: You can run, Chris, but you cannot hide forever. You may have won this time, but mark my words… Diabolosmon will return…someday…

Chris: *to himself* No he won't! No he won't! *sheds a tear* No he won't!
