*Scrooge seemingly shook the Spirit's robe, as if attempting to make the Spirit utter the words he wanted to hear him say. All at once, Scrooge opened his eyes and sat up. Slowly, he looked around to see a ray of morning's light peer through. Only then did he realize he was back in his bedroom, with one of the bed curtains in his hand*

Scrooge: *looks at the curtain, tenders it* They're here… *chuckles a bit* They're not torn… They're here, rings and all! *checks his pulse* I'm still here! *jumps out of his bed, laughing* I'm still here!! The shadows of things that would have been, may be dispelled!! They will be; I know they will. *falls to his knees, claps his hands* Spirits, if you can hear me or not, I vow to embrace the Past, Present, and Future! You Spirits of Three shall strive within me! Oh Jacob Marley, Heaven and Christmas Time be praised for this! I say it on my knees, old Jacob, I've been blessed with another chance!! *gets up, runs about the room* Goodness, I don't know what to do. I'm as light as a feather, as happy as an angle, as merry as a schoolboy. Why, I'm giddy as a drunken man! *pause* But wait-- I don't know what day of the month it is; how long have I've been among the Spirits? I have to know.

*Scrooge ran to his window and opened it wide, to see the sun peak through the sky and the church bells seemingly singing a joyous melody through all of London. Down below, Scrooge could see Skippy Bunny pushing his friend Toby Turtle like a sled through the snow-covered streets, laughing as they went on*

Scrooge: *calling down* I say, you! Yes, you down there, boys!

*The pair stopped and looked up to see Scrooge calling down to them, much to their surprise*

Toby: Mr. Scrooge?

Scrooge: Tell me, what day is it?

Skippy: Huh?

Scrooge: What day is it, my fine fellows?

Skippy: *raises an eyebrow, turns to Toby* Did he ask what day it is?

Toby: Maybe his memory isn't as good as it used to be.

Skippy: *turns back to Scrooge* It's Christmas Day!

Scrooge: *to himself* Christmas Day… *gasps* I haven't missed it; the Spirits did it all in one night. Of course they can, they can do anything they like. They can! *calls back down to the boys* Pardon me, fellows, do you know the Poulterer's, in the next street but one, at the corner?

Toby: Yes sir, we do!

Scrooge: *chuckles* Such intelligent, remarkable boys! Do you know whether they've sold the prize turkey hanging up there?-- Not the little prize turkey, the big one!

Skippy: The one that's big as me? It's still there, sir!

Scrooge: Go and buy it!

Skippy: What?

Toby: You can't be serious!

Scrooge: I AM serious! Go and fetch it, tell them to bring it here, that I may give them the direction where to take it. Return with the man, I'll give you each a shilling. *pause* In fact, come back within less than five minutes and you'll each get half-a-crown!

*Quickly, the boys took off like a shot, running off to buy the prize turkey, and hopefully earn their half crowns for such a good deed*

Scrooge: *closes the window, writes down the Cratchit's address on a small card* I'll send it to Bob Cratchit's, he shan't know who sends it. It's twice the size of Tiny Tim!! What a merry Christmas dinner they will have! Ha ha!

*When he finished, Scrooge ran down the stairs and out the door, but not before looking at his door knocker*

Scrooge: *smiles* What an honest expression it has in it's face, such a wonderful knocker. I shall love it, as long as I live.

*Just then, the two boys returned, along with the Poulterer, Little John, holding the big prize turkey in one hand*

Toby: Here he is, sir, with the turkey just as you asked.

Skippy: Has it been less than five minutes?

Scrooge: *laughs* Indeed it has, boys. *removes some money, gives it to the boys* As a man of my word, here's your reward!

Toby: Gee, half-a-crown!

Skippy: Thanks, Mr. Scrooge!

*Happy as can be, Toby and Skippy ran off into town leaving Scrooge to deal with the rather tall poulterer, large in some places even*

Scrooge: Why, I bet it's impossible to carry that to Camden Town. I insist you have a cab. *gives some money to the poulterer* Keep the change.

Little John: *smiles* Why yes, sir! Thank you, sir! *runs off to find a cab, calls out* Merry Christmas, sir!

*A while later, Scrooge dressed in his best, making his wa onto the streets at last. The people by this time poured forth, as he had seen them with the Ghost of Christmas Present. Walking with his hands behind him, Scrooge regarded every one with a delighted smile. He looked so irresistibly pleasant, in a word, that three or four good-humored fellows said, 'Good morning, sir. A merry Christmas to you.' Scrooge often said afterwards, that of all the blithe sounds he ever heard, those were the blithest in his ears. Along the way, he passed by an elderly woman sitting on a stoop, and kindly laid a couple coins in a silver plate beside her. She looks up, her silvery hair glittering in the sun, and smiles*

Woman: Bless you sir; merry Christmas!

Scrooge: *continues walking, calls out* And a merry Christmas to you, ma'am.

*Suddenly, he stopped, as if he suddenly realized something. He turns around, but the woman had seemingly disappeared and hardly anyone in the crowd even noticed. And yet, Scrooge couldn't help but think he saw that woman before, the Ghost of Christmas Past in some form... He could not be sure. Just as he turned around, he spotted Mole and Rat, the Charity gentlemen from the day before, walking towards him*

Scrooge: Ah, my dear sirs, how do you do? Hope you succeeded yesterday, very kind of you by the way. A merry Christmas to you, both.

Rat: *eyes widen* Mr. Scrooge!

Scrooge: Yes, that's my name, and I fear it may not be pleasant to you. Allow me to ask your pardon and will you have the goodness… *whispers into their ears*

Mole: *eyes widen* Bless me!

Rat: Mr. Scrooge, are you serious? That much?

Scrooge: If you please, not a farthing less. A great many back-payments are included in it, I assure you. Will you do me that favor?

Rat: My dear sir. I don't know what to say to such munificence.

Scrooge: Don't say anything, please.

Rat: But if only there was something to give in return.

Mole: I know! *removes his scarf, offers it to Scrooge* Here.

Scrooge: *raises an eyebrow* For me?

Mole: Certainly, Mr. Scrooge. I insist.

Scrooge: My… *takes the scarf, wraps it around his neck* Thank you, sir. Merry Christmas. *walks off*

Rat: And a merry Christmas to you, Mr. Scrooge!

Mole: God bless you, sir!

*The two gentleman strolled by, as Scrooge continued his way down the sidewalk. Just then, he saw the four carolers, who were at his door the other day, singing 'Here We Come A-wassailing' a few feet ahead. He smiled and approached them, but as soon as they saw Scrooge, they immediately ceased their singing and stared in fear*

Goofy: S-Sorry, Mr. Scrooge… We didn't mean any singing in front of you...

Donald Duck: We won't do it again.

Goofy: Honest and truly, Mr. Scro--

*Scrooge suddenly grabbed Goofy's shoulder and smiled at him*

Scrooge: *singing* Joy to the World! The Lord is come;
Let Earth receive her king!

*Soon enough, Goofy and the other carolers smiled and joined Scrooge in song*

Scrooge & The Carolers: *singing* Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing, (heaven and nature sing)
And heaven and nature sing, (heaven and nature)
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing!

Scrooge: *lets go of Goofy, drops a few coins in the pail* Keep up the good work! And Merry Christmas! *continues walking*

Daisy Duck: *picks up the pail* Merry Christmas to you, Mr. Scrooge!

Clarabelle Cow: Ditto!

Donald Duck: God save you, sir!!

Goofy: Merry Christmas, Mr. Scrooge! Ahyuck!

*Humming merrily down the block, he pauses as a passing church choir, singing a church melody passes in front of him. He tips his hat to the passing choir and was about to continue, when he suddenly stopped and slowly turned to the back of the choir. All of the choir members were dressed in green robes, all of them were just turning the corner. But one stood out the most from the rest, an anthropomorphic vixen, turning slightly to Scrooge, to his surprise, and she winked an eye at him before disappearing round the corner*

Scrooge: *softly* Spirit…

*Scrooge slowly follows the group, which quickly turned into a run hoping to catch up to the choir before he lost the Spirit again. But just as he turned the corner, before he could call out, he suddenly bumps into a woman, who dropped all the boxes she was carrying. Scrooge, straightening himself out, crawls forward to help the woman*

Scrooge: Goodness! I'm terribly sorry, madam! I didn't see you! Are you alri--

*Scrooge stopped suddenly, just as he bent down to reach for the presents. For a brief moment, he caught a glimpse of the woman's eyes, just as she quickly bent from his gaze. But Scrooge knew, they looked familiar to him. Slowly and unsurely, Scrooge reached over the hood and gently lift it down. Under the hood, to Scrooge's surprise, the woman... Was Isabelle. Only now, she was years old and her hair had turned gray. The minute her gaze returned to Scrooge, her eyes widened as they stared at each other eye-to-eye for a brief moment of silence*

Scrooge: *eyes widen* Can it be...? Isabelle…? Is it really you?

Isabelle: Do I…know you, sir?

Scrooge: Why Isabelle, don't you remember? *removes his hat* It's me.

Isabelle: *pause* Ebenezer? *raises an eyebrow* Ebenezer Scrooge?

Scrooge: *helps Isabelle onto her feet* Yes! Yes, Isabelle, yes! Oh, you “do” remember!

Isabelle: *examines Scrooge* You've gotten so much older over the years.

Scrooge: Why yes, I… I suppose I have. And so have you, it seems. But it doesn’t matter to me, you’re still as beautiful as you were all those years ago.

Isabelle: Thank you… I suppose. *looks into Scrooge's eyes, notices something* There's something "different" about you.

Scrooge: Isabelle, before you say anything else, I just want to tell you… I’m sorry.

Isabelle: You're… What?

Scrooge: That day on the park bench, all those years ago… You told me once that a golden idol replaced you in my heart. *pause* You were right. *looks deeply into Isabelle's eyes* But I never meant to hurt you, I just never understood what you meant. But now I realize I should never have walked away… When I should've ran to you. I love you, Isabelle, even if it's too late now, I always have. *sighs* I'm sorry I've wasted your time.

*Slowly, Scrooge continues down the street as Isabelle looks on wondering what just happened. As Scrooge walks, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out something from his coat: The golden watch from the cabinet in his room. He pushes the button, and "Fantasy Impromptu" plays as he stops to look at the picture of him and Isabelle. A sigh escapes his lips, his breath seen flowing in the cold air. Suddenly, Isabelle's voice speaks from behind Scrooge*

Isabelle: You kept that… After all these years?

Scrooge: *turns to Belle* Yes… To remind me of the mistake I had made. One that I would have to live with for the rest of my life.

Isabelle: *eyes the watch* It was my Christmas present to you, the night of Fezziwig's last party. To remind us of the first time we met… *pause* Ebenezer, you really "do" love me.

Scrooge: Who said I stopped?

Isabelle: *pause* I'm so sorry, I really am. In all that time, in the years since I've seen you, I thought you'd still be as greedy as you were when we last met… But I can see now, you really "are" different. How could I not forgive you… Ebenezer?

Scrooge: *a tear slides down his cheek as he smiles and slowly hugs Isabelle* I've missed you so much...

Isabelle: *tears in her eyes, hugs Scrooge back* I've missed you too…

*And so they spent the rest of Christmas Day together, Scrooge carrying half of Isabelle's presents, and in that time they talked during the whole walk, truly getting to know each other and feeling as happy as they were when they were kids. Later that evening, they finally arrived at Fred's house, and Scrooge knocked on the door. The door opened revealing a maid, who appeared*

Fred's Maid: May I help you, sir?

Scrooge: Is your master at home?

Fred's Maid: Yes, sir. He's in the dining room, along with the mistress. I'll show you in, if you please.

Scrooge: Thank you, he knows me.

*The maid showed Scrooge and Isabelle to the dining room. There, Scrooge could hear Fred and his guests behind the doors, as they played 'Yes and No'. He seemed almost hesitant to go in, knowing what happens, but a pat on the shoulder from Isabelle was assuring enough to convince him to go in. Just as Duchess was about to give her answer, she stopped with a gasp when Scrooge pushed the door open. Everyone in the room stared at the two, Scrooge standing in the door frame with Isabelle's arm around his, all a mix of shock and amazement. But none more surprised than Fred himself*

Fred: Uncle Scrooge...?

Scrooge: *clears his throat* I've come to dinner, nephew… And I've brought a friend… If you'll have me.

Fred: *slowly approaches Scrooge, looks him over from top to bottom* Dear uncle… *smiles, hugs him* Of course I'll have you!! *turns to his guests* Everyone, come and meet my Uncle Scrooge!!

*One by one, the party guests walked over and said their hellos to Scrooge and Belle, the latter whom they were anxious to meet having not realized that Scrooge had such an old friend. As they talked and laughed, Scrooge couldn't help but feel a presence through some chill in the air and turned to face the window. As the only one who could see, Scrooge looked to see the Ghost of Christmas Past looking proudly at Scrooge, who returned with a smile. And then, a swirl of snow caused the Ghost to turn and through the snow another figure appeared, making Scrooge even more happier. It was the Ghost of Christmas Present, back to the way she was before, as youthful as ever. Walking beside her, some other figures caught Scrooge's eyes, the two children from her robes... Only now they were more cheerful and healthy, garbed in Christmas robes, and each with a wreath over their heads. They all nodded approvingly to Scrooge, who mouthed silently, 'Thank You', before turning back to rejoin the party as the Spirits looked on*

*It was a wonderful party for Ebenezer, just as he experienced before. Only it was far grander than he ever thought it would be, for on this night he truly felt close with his nephew than ever before. Fred, pleased to see his uncle attend, still couldn't get over how Scrooge had a friend he never mentioned before*

Scrooge: I'd like to introduce you to Isabelle, a dear old friend of mine. Isabelle, this is my nephew, Fred.

Fred: *shakes Isabelle's hand* A pleasure to meet you, madam. *to Scrooge* I never knew you had a friend, Uncle… Then again, your appearance here was a surprise as well…

Isabelle: You're Fan's son, aren't you?

Fred: Why, yes. Yes, I am. You knew my mother?

Isabelle: Your uncle introduced me to her long before you were born. *smiles* You have her eyes.

Scrooge: And her very large heart…

Fred: Thank you, Miss Isabelle. Thank you… Uncle. *picks up a glass of wine* To Uncle Scrooge! A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the old man and his lovely friend.

Fred's Guests: *raises their glasses* Uncle Scrooge!

Fred: *whispers* Who knows? Maybe someday I'll start calling her "Aunt" Isabelle… *chuckles*

Isabelle: *blushes* We'll see, Fred…

Scrooge: *softly* Yes… *smiles at Isabelle* Yes, we will.

*The next morning, Scrooge sat at his desk in his office at the counting house, while Isabelle kept look out at the window. He opened his watch, noting it was eighteen minutes past nine o'clock, he expected Bob Cratchit to be late. Ironically, that was the thing he had set his heart upon. Soon enough, Isabelle spotted Bob Cratchit coming and made a signal to Scrooge, who excitedly ushered her to hide somewhere and put a finger on his mouth telling her to keep quiet. He took a deep breath, then put on his meanest face just as Bob Cratchit burst through the door*

Scrooge: *sternly* What do you mean coming here at this time of day?

Bob Cratchit: *out of breath* I-I'm very s-sorry, sir. I-I am behind my time.

Scrooge: Yes… yes, you are. Step this way, sir, if you please… Now!

Bob Cratchit: *gulps, slowly walks to Scrooge's office* It's only once a year, sir, it won't be repeated. I was making rather merry yesterday--

Scrooge: *gets up from his chair* I'll tell you what, Cratchit... I'm not going to stand for this sort of thing any longer. And therefore… Therefore…

Bob Cratchit: *eyes widen* Oh no…

Scrooge: I am about to raise your salary!

Bob Cratchit: Oh no! Please, Mr. Scrooge, I-- *pause* Huh?

Scrooge: *bursts out laughing* Merry Christmas, Bob, a merrier Christmas than I have given you for many a year! *laughs, hugs Bob* Oh, there's someone I want you to meet. *waves a hand, Isabelle enters* Isabelle, this is my clerk, Bob Cratchit. Bob, this is Isabelle, an old, dear friend of mine.

Bob Cratchit: Oh, uh-- *tips his hat* How do you do, ma'am?

Isabelle: *nods with a smile* How do you do?

Scrooge: *to Bob* I do apologize for the scare, my good fellow, just wanted to surprise you is all.

Bob Cratchit: W-Well, it was a good surprise, sir. *chuckles slightly*

Scrooge: Anyway, Bob, yes! Isabelle and I talked and we both agreed I should raise your salary, endeavor to assist your struggling family, and we will discuss your affairs this very afternoon, over a Christmas bowl of smoking bishop. Make up the fires, and buy another coal-scuttle before you dot another 'i'. *gives Bob two bags of gold coins*

Bob Cratchit: Really?! *eyes widen, smiles* Oh! Y-Yes sir, Mr. Scrooge! Thank you, sir!! Thank you!! And a merry Christmas to you too!! *runs out the door as happy as can be*

Isabelle: *looks out the window* What a sweet little fellow. *turns to Scrooge* Things are going to be much different now.

Scrooge: Yes… Isn't it wonderful?

*Later that afternoon, Bob and his family, along with Tiny Tim, sat down for dinner with Ebenezer and Isabelle in the dining hall of his mansion. Outside, a figure happily watched the two families eating dinner and having a wonderful time together. It was Alan-a-Dale, watching through the window, before he turned his attention to the audience*

Alan-a-Dale: *chuckles* There you have it, Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more. Tiny Tim, who did not die, looked up to Scrooge like a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world. He had no further intercourse with Spirits, after that fateful night, but lived upon the Total Abstinence Principle, ever afterwards. To this day, as it was always said of him, old Ebenezer Scrooge knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed--

Tiny Tim: God bless us… Everyone.

Choir: *singing* Joy to the children far and near,
What a won'drous time of year.
Isn't is just grand to say
Merry, merry Christmas (merry, merry Christmas)
Merry, merry Christmas (merry, merry Christmas)
Oh, what a merry Christmas day!
